all saints day

day after halloween.  the halloween music station broadcast by satellite radio, xmsirius, has all ready switched over to christmas music.  today is the saddest day of the year because halloween is now 364-5 days away.  it is also an exciting day of the year because fall is just getting into full swing and we have the holiday season to look forward to.  and i do like the holiday season too.  each holiday deserved its season.  but really two months of christmas music, but only one week of halloween music?!  priorities are all out of whack.

and yet this was probably the busiest season of the scary we've had.  we visited three different haunted houses.  we went to the pumpkin patch and got lost a bit in the corn maze.  we carved pumpkins.  and nick and j. had a great night of trick&treats.  indeed, the streets were packed with kids.  thousands of them.  i'm not joking, out in full force, their parents in tow.  i've not seen a scene like it.  amazing.  and people were out on their porches, some blasting halloween songs and soundscapes, handing out candy.  the neighborhood, and surrounding neighborhoods, came alive. 

some years are better than others celebrating halloween.  this year amped the celebration by a factor of ten.  the energy pulsed the blocks.  i was in happy delight. 

there is next year, and the year after that and so on.  and the years go faster and faster.  i cannot stop the world to get off.  i'll i can do is shout, carpefuckingdiem, and hang on for dear life.
