this might be one of the greatest teaser trailers
yesterday i saw this teaser trailer at a screening of monsters vs aliens. holy shit, i nearly wept. seriously. can't explain why. perhaps the director, spike jonze, really captured the look and spirit of the book. perhaps its because of the great arcade fire song. perhaps because i am, we all are, still, deep down, children. whatever the reason, check this out and see if it moves you too. the movie is an adaptation of where the wild things are.

One marvels that they got a full movie out of what, eight pages, and about twenty-five sentences or something?

i wonder about the same thing. it's been years since i read the book so this weekend bought a copy for my son. i'd forgotten how brief the text is. what makes the book magical for me are the illustrationss. which i think the film captures just so. will it make a good movie? hmmm. . .however, the film does have some very bright talents, including jonze who has directed some of the most colorful music vids, suchs the beastie boys' 'sabotage' and weezer's 'buddy holly'. don't know if that visual talent will translate to the screen in a feature-length pic. but i'm willing to give it a go come october.
